Introducing sweetie boy Rexi

This amazing boy is 1 year old staffie mix, he was surrendered to us by his family through no fault of his own. As he's still in puppy stage he loves to play and can be boisterous but he is having on going training while in foster.

Some words from his foster mum and advice:

He is a very special boy! He needs ongoing training which is paramount. He is so eager to learn and to be a good boy! He can be very gentle and soft but can also be very strong especially if he gets excited or when he sees another dog, he wants to play but has no idea how to and has no manners. For this reason I keep him calm and don’t allow him to get excited.

He doesn’t appear to like cats! Or it might be he sees them as something to chase and play with!

He likes routine and settles after going for his walks. He sleeps all night and is clean indoors.

He travels well in a car.

Ideal person would be someone who is prepared to put the work into training Rex.

He is wary when he first meets strangers but once he knows they aren’t going to do him any harm he is fine.

When interacting with children he was either ignoring them or was very gentle. In the right hands this boy will fly.

He wants so much to please you he just gets excited sometimes!

When he starts getting excited :

  • Indoors - I stand up and take him out of the room and close door and do not say a word! 3 seconds later I open the door and I sit down without saying anything he will come in quietly and lay down

  • Outdoors in garden. - I stand up walk inside without saying a word. He follows me in and calms down by the time we are inside. Then I will come back outside again.

  • On a walk - depends

    • I keep walking until object has passed then ask him to sit and then walk off slowly

    • I make him sit while object passes him then continue our walk calmly.

Not sure if some dog trainers would agree with me but it does work with him.
